Gooseberry juice, when consumed in an empty stomach, is believed to benefit the health to the maximal level. There are numerous good things to count on when speaking about gooseberries. I would like to list a few and let you know about the goodness of incredible gooseberries.
Sometimes, it would be just gooseberries with added honey. At times, I love to introduce mild heat with a dash of ginger. I add lemon zest sometimes which adds a nice lemony punch to the juice. The sweetening agent could be either honey or jaggery as both marry well with the gooseberries.
The recipe which I have chosen to post is my favourite variation of gooseberry juice. It has its own sweetness, tartness, lemony punch, mild heat and nuttiness which makes it so special to enjoy every morning.

Step-by-Step Procedure with Pictures
How to Make?
- Deseed the gooseberries and transfer them to a large mixer jar or juicer.
- Add a lemon wedge to the mixer jar. You could add some lemon zest instead of the lemon wedge for enhanced flavour.
- Add freshly grated coconut or fresh coconut pieces to the mixer jar. Coconut adds a mild richness to the gooseberry juice.
- Add whole black pepper to the juicer or mixer jar. Black pepper would add a mild heat which soothes the throat.
- Add cumin seeds to the mixer jar. Cumin seeds have some nutty taste and aroma which helps in the proper digestion.
- Add some salt to enhance the taste profile to the next level.
- Grind the ingredients without adding any water.
- Now add water to the mixer jar.
- Add jaggery powder at this stage. If adding honey, add after filtering the gooseberry juice.
- Grind again and get the gooseberry juice ready.
- Filter the gooseberry/amla juice through a colander.
- Enjoy the gooseberry/amla juice on each sip.

Tips:
- Easy way to deseed the gooseberries: Hit the gooseberries gently with a pestle and the seeds would be removed easily.
- Honey could be added instead of jaggery powder. You could consume without any sweetening agent.
- Since black pepper, cumin seeds and coconut pieces are optional, I suggest trying this recipe without skipping any ingredients to get that exact sweet and tart gooseberry juice with the balanced heat and nuttiness.
